Hey guys, i know the series II had a strut brace that the series I didn't have, but I'm not aware of any other modifications that would make the series II feel lighter/ have better handling and steering. I have driven a series I vy ss manual with 67,000km which was in great condition, and a series II vy ss auto with 90,000km which was in good condition, and the series II sat a fair bit better
My dad was a back seat passenger in both cars and even he noticed the difference. The series II didn't sway around as much as the series I and even the steering felt a little bit lighter. both of these car felt great to drive, but I was surprised at how much better the series II felt.
I also drove a series I vy clubby manual with 70,000km and a series II r8 with 30,000km. series I was awesome, but again, series II handled better and had lighter steering, but at least in this case one was an r8 and had much less km so it makes more sense.
Is this difference between the two SS commodores normal? Was the series II really that much better? Or is it possible that the series II was just a unique, or the series I wasn't built as well?
I'm looking for a vy ss at the moment, and I'd really appreciate the feedback.
Thanks guys.
extra note - both cars had the same standard wheels and both had plenty of tread left.

My Series 2 feels heavy.
has anyone driven series I and series II SSs and noticed a difference? or is anyone aware of the fact that they are different?
E Series
Not that it would make any difference, but the series 2 had an extra 10kw (bout as much as a ford Ka)
Ive only driven an SS series 1, so wouldnt be able to compare, but it was great to drive - Never really swayed enough to be a 'problem'
Its a great car, you'll love it!! good choice!
If you liked the way the series 2 felt, I'd go for that. (plus im a fan of autos) either way though good luck with it all!
thanks for the feedback guys. the series I didn't sway enough for me to find it a problem, but there was definitely a difference. maybe that's just holdens - my mate's VT exec with 120,000km feels a fair bit lighter, quicker and more stable than my other mate's vx acclaim with only 90,000km - could be that some are just better than others. i'm not sure, but i'm holding off buying the series I because i really want to discover whether all series II SSs are that much better or notany other feedback from people?
