    Default 5.7L into vy exec.

After looking at nearly every option available, iv decided to put a 5.7L into my vy exec.
iv look at turbocharging, supercharging, getting a dif car. none of them are what i want for various reasons.
the way im hoping to go is to get a written off vt/vy ss and switch engine/dif/tran/ecu and anything else that will fit straight ova.
anyone dont this before? ie, by themselves? anything in paticular i need to watch out for?
will this need to be enginered? pits? etc.
    cheers in advance.

p.s i didnt know where to post this, as its v6 & v8.
    cheers.

probably better off just buying a sv8 or finding a vy with a ls1 already if your not going to be installing the stuff yourself its going to be pretty costly and not worth the hassles just my opinion

+1 i totally agree, its alot of stuffing around it, would be much easier and possibly cheaper to get a new car thats gen 3. I have converted a v6 vt to gen 3 my self so I could drive a v8 on my p's.

i do agree, but if i sold it now, even if i got 10 for it, after paying off the loan, i would only just break even. id then be left without even a deposit. btw, im not on my p's anymore. i was gonna get the engine changed in a workshop. and change the dif and trans myself shortly after to save costs. If i did end up buying a gen3, i wouldn'y get a sv8, id get something better, but i want the sleeper look....

It would be cheaper to buy a vy with a v8 already. But as you said with your loan there is no point selling it. Not sure where you are but in qld you need to get a mod plate. You will need springs and brakes from a v8 to. Good luck man

I think you might also have to look at fuel lines as I have heard they are larger in diameter, the dash will need to be sorted for the V8 tacho as well and other tinngs like the cruise control, radiator and fans, the air conditioning parts under the bonnet etc and front suspension, the springs are probably different.

lol well if u put a ls1 in your exec it would look the same as a sv8 mate mines a HBD got the ss kit and basically is an ss without the squiggles.but it cost 6k less than a SS

you will also need to change, the fuel tanks, fuel pumps, body control modules, computer and dashes. as all these things are programmed to talk to each other, and if you leave one out, the whole thing won't work. your computer will only work with your body control module. if you change body control modules you will need to change key heads too.

It is a VERY big job. mechanical, electrical wise. pay someone to do it. that way if it doesn't work you don't have to pay until it does.

Need your computer tuned, or dash calibrated??? Want your PS3 fixed, or wish to prevent the YLOD?
