VY Cigarette Lighter

Hey guys,

Dads asked me to post this and see if we can find out what to do. Dads VY is an ex-cop car and ever since we bought it the cigarette lighter hasn't worked (the same with anything that uses the adaptor) so its pretty obvious theres no power going to it.

Does anyone know how hard this would to be to fix and whats involved?

it may just be a fuse, that or something more i dont know what the cop cars were like but im thinking maybe they realligned the power to another source to run their systems.. just a guess but im clueless

1 check the fuse

2 check the power supply plug on the back is connected

Yep i'll check the fuse and see how it is, is removing the fuse cover pretty simple? I've only ever removed it on my VR.

the power source in the centre console will not accept a cigarette light. under the stereo there is a small compartment that opens. you can buy a smokers kit to put in there. now being a ex cop car they would of stolen power to run their systems. so use a multimeter and test the power, check the fuse too.

where the smokers kit would go there is alternative power there that you can access and run lines off. That is also where you plug in the wiring loom for the hsv style guages on top of the centre console.

Hey mate, the centre console power source isn't working for anything. I've tried some working phone chargers etc.. so theres no power to that either.

I'll take a look under the stereo tomorrow when the old man gets home from work.

probably been disconected, wire fallen off, wire pinched i had the same problem
