Black wheels on white car? Thoughts?

Hi,

Picked up a set of VY S2 SV8 rims for my Berlina wagon. Has anyone put black wheels on their car? I havent seen it very often. I saw a white Berlina wagon the other day with Black VY SS rims looks pretty good. I was thinking going like a satin black or graphite. If my car wasnt white I wouldnt consider it.

What do you guys think? Too ricey?

Definitely not ricey, but certainly is trashy. You may as well just repaint some 15" steel rims.

I want black rims for the VT, which is also white. I have seen a fair few cars here in WA with the black rims and I recon it looks awesome.

Its totally personal preference.

I used to think they were really ugly but I reckon black wheels on most cars look really cool now. Makes the car look kind of mean in a way. Sort of like having darker headlights hwere you have the shroud painted black.

I don't think it looks too ricey unless you tint your rear lights black as well.

On a white car I reckon black wheels look really good and make the carl ook more agressive. Anyway thats my opinion.

personally, black with bits of chrome ( eg. chrome lip, rivits ( the show ones ), or chrome stripes running down the spokes ) look .. in my opinion pretty freaking good... black rims on a perfectly clean, white car looks niccce, but theres gotta be a bitta chrome to brake the rims up ... ( so to speak )

If you have VY SV8 rims I would not paint then black even for a white car. They will look dreadful.

Everyone has their own preferences but black wheels only look good if combined with some polished alloy or chrome (and only really look good on white cars).

An all black wheel looks cheap and "dead" because there is no contrast to set it off. Just go to any wheel gallery and look at cars with all black rims and very little or no chrome or polished alloy on the wheel to set off the black.

If you have gloss black wheel centres (the spokes) and the wheel rim is highly polished alloy the combination of black centres and the polished alloy rim looks smart on a white car. You cannot really duplicate that look with SV8 wheels.
