    Default VY/VZ Dash

    Hi all,
I just have a quick question into the difference between the dash setup in the Vy compared to Vz. More specific, the plastic centre clip area on the dash above the ac unit/control. I have seen that VZ SS's had the filp up compartment but the VY's didnt. Is there a difference in size in anyway? I have a VY wagon and a VY Series 2 sedan and if it is possible, i would like to get a hold of this compartment and make full use of this extra storage. If anyone has any help, please enlighten me.

    Thanks in advance

    Troy

The Flip top compartment on the VZ SS & higher is only available with the electronic climate control.
The flip top lid is actually smaller than the VY fixed lid.

Unless u get a VZ SS & VY SS centre facia. Cut the middle section of the manual CC controls outta the VY & do the same with the VZ, then glue the VY section onto the VZ frame.

I did read somewhere on here about some guy doing it!

If you compare the two models, you find that the centre section of the dashpanel is quite different between VY and VZ upper level models. The VZ had a raised edge to the panel that curves over the top immediately above the centre vents and the lift up lid sits on top of the panel in front of the raised edge, whereas the VY has the edge running all the way up the centre panel, over to the top of the dashboard. The lower level VZ's(Exec and Acclaim, SV6 and SV8 had the same panel as the equivalent model in the VY).

To put things simply, you can't fit a VZ top compartment to a VY centre panel, nor to a VZ lower level model.
