i own a vy ss & i dont know what type of exaust system is going 2 give me the most in performance & power & of corse sound.

i intend 2 do other mods later too, ie; MCAI, GTS pipe, 80mm throtle & LS1 edit mafless tune.

would a tri-y header be better than a 4 into 1?

2-1/2" system or 3"?

HMH, or pacemaker, or di filippo?

if any of u guy's got some advice i would like 2 read it.

Thanks, vyss350

As I mentioned afew months ago, "Street Machine Magazine" ran back to back tests on a chassis dyno at a well respected Exhust Shop in Sydney. These tests were done using the VY project car they are giving away, whilst it was still in mechanicaly stock condition.

They found that some of the big names that we would have sworn by 5 yrs ago, are nowhere near the goods these days!

Number one buy a long shot was the Di Fillipo System, twin cat, crossover/balance pipe, and if you wish, a replacment ecu.

Being up in QLD, the prices would vary alittle due to frieght etc., but by yourself a copy of a Commodore mag., or Street Machine, as they are a major advertiser now.! contact on 03-97470747

Good Luck !!!

Pacemaker extractors, and Remus exhaust system.

Awesome sound and performance, and some Holden dealers sell and fit them.

Im in the same predicament, Ive got my new VY SS II and am looking around for some tone and performance packages.....cost wise anywhere from $1750 - 2300,
apparently catalytic converters on VY II are up underneath the manifolds which is diffrent to series I.

One system i have been quoted is to supply high flow cats
with hm headers and a red back 2 1/2 inch
exhaust is $2250.00inc gst fitted should pick up around 20 to 25 kw and a nice v8 tone

Not bad on top of the 50 odd grand....but hey i love it !!!!!

cheers let me know if you need any more info!

oops sorry guys also got a quote from a fairly respectable exhaust place in sydney as follows....

We can fit a set of 4 into 1 ceramic coated extractors for $1300 which have
the O2 sensors in the forward position.

It will cost $1490 for a dual 2-1/2" mandrel bent polished 304 grade sports
system, plus $250 for the enlarged con pipes from the cats to the system.

The VY2 requires 2 new cats to be fitted. The large body ceramic biscuit
ones are $600 for the pair, or the smaller body hi-flo cats with stainless
biscuit (and larger holes) are $860 for the pair.

The system will give you a nice sporty note when you nail it, but when
cruising will have no drone and a slight V8 burble. On trips it will be
fine.

We have an in house dyno so we can do a before & after printout for $100. If
you need a K&N air filter we can do them for $120 fitted.

You will find that you will get a bit more power up top, but a lot more
power through the rev range. It will be instant power, rather than having to
wait till the revs build up.

We can also do a Mafless tune on your car which will add even more power
through the rev range. It will cost another $1500 for the tune.
