Hi all,
I own a VY v6 exec that for the last week has been draining batteries overnight.
I have tried and tested 3 batteries and all are ok, the alt is charging at 14.4 v and isnt grounding out.
Has anyone had any problems with circuits causing a draw? I have already removed interior lights and everything is standard. I'm thinking maybe security system??
Any help would be great as the missus is planning on driving 12 hours up the coast in the morning and doesn't really wanna be jumping it for the next couple of weeks...
Cheers guys
Have you checked the boot and glove box lights?
I like my roo well done

wish it was that simple.. all lights have been removed.
shouldnt be your lights mate, these cars are equipped with a power saver so if you leave the interior light on, or glove box open they will only stay on for 1 hr after the car is locked.
id be looking into the alarm system, does it happen when you dont use the alarm?
also check your earth lead from the battery, make shore its connected securily
You probably have sorted this issue by now, but I just had the same issue where the battery would drain over-night. I found connecting an amp meter would show a 10 amp draw then drops down to a couple of milli amps then back upto 10 amps again and so on.... Try listening under the drivers seat for a faint clicking sound every 10 seconds. If you do hear the click sound then it is one of the adjustment seat motors jammed! A temporary fix is too remove the power seats fuse ( 20 amps) located under the steering wheel console (will have to remove bottom cover - pull towards you at the base, it is clipped in) - you wont be able to adjust your seat up and down but at least it gets you going again![]()

If you have an after market sterio, check the wiring is connected properley.
I had the same problem, Alternator regulator (think its called that) was dodgy, even thought it was a brand new alternator i had.
So the alternator was remaining actuated 24/7 draining the battery overnight.
Bought a new regulator (50$ ripoff! whole alternator was 70$!) and its a simply screw on/off thing, easy to do.
Also the alternator even with the car off, was making a very very slight electronic humming.
When i say slight, i mean so quit a few ppl i had helping me find the solve the problem could not hear it. and an auto elec did not hear it.
Not all regulators might hum when broken, but mine did.
PS: Regulator is the black plastic box on your alternator, there's only about 3 parts to the alternator and its one of them so not to hard to find.
