Title says it all, i bought a VY s pack today and have 18" osaka racing machined black phantoms from my last car that im going to put on it, will it look out of place if i dont lower it, cos ive pretty much just spent all disposable cash on my new car lol, look forward to hearing from you guys! and when i take deliver and get the wheels fitted ill throw some pics up
Pretty sure you would have FE2 with it being a S pack... if this is the case, then chucking some 18s on it will look good. Won't be super low or anything, but at least you won't be able to fit a beer can in the wheel arch (thats what i try to work on haha).
Just check your compliance plate and see if it says FE2 or STD on the suspension and you will know. STD will look okay but..... yeah
Ben
thanks for your help mate, im pretty sure its FE2 cos i think that suspension is standard across all S-pack's...has anybody done this cos im still curious as to what it will look like, my feeling is the back is going to look a bit high...but im torn as to whether its worth spending like 500-600 bucks on getting it lowered for an extra 30mm
If you have the genuine VY "S" then the lowered FE2 suspension is standard equipment (- same suspension as the SS).
Fe2 sits a little lower than the standard Exec or Berlina suspension in the VY (but the Fe2 it's not as low as it was on the VT model).
From memory the Osaka Phantom wheel is the 9 spoke model. Spoked wheel designs like these look good on the VY and in my opinion 18 inch models look good with the VY body and Fe2 suspension. I have seen many Vys with 19s and these wheels mostly (not all) look too big for the VY body design.
I would not spend money on lowering the car at least until you need to replace all 4 shocks. Then you can consider if it's worth the extra money as you will save a bit if you do the springs at the same time.
Basically I think the VY looks quite good with Fe2 suspension and nice 18 inch wheels. Unless you have a really exceptional car, and you have a tight budget, I don't think spending money on lowered springs usually makes enough of a difference to make it worthwhile ( - and you will have less hassles with gouging the bottom of the front bumper on all manner of obstacles). But that's just one opinion.
FE2 will look fine with 18's. Ive got 17's with fe2 in my exec and sure it would look better if it were lower but it doesn't look out of place..
thanks for the help guys, n yeah I have learnt the hard way that lower is not always better, i had these 18's previously on my vectra that i scored cheap off a friend, n they rubbed somthin shockin. im looking forward to a smooth comfortable ride so i dont think i will lower it...or not until i get bored atleast, thanks guys!
