    Question Aircon Re-gas?

It's been bloody hot last few days, 43+. I've noticed that my climate control system is not 'ice-cold' at times. I drove it in this crazy heat for about 80km and it feelt cool but not cold. But in the evening it went ice cold again.

Just wondering if I need a re-gas. How can I tell? Car is 5 years old and in my ownership (1 year) the climate control is always left on between 23-25 degrees.

Also, how much would a re-gas cost? Never had one done before.

    Thanks!

Possibly your problem. As far as it know, the climate control system just mixes the air so that the air exiting the vents is 23-25 degrees, this can be somewhat ineffective if your car is parked in the sun and gets very hot. If your car is really hot then you can press the cold override button to temporarily blow as cold as possible air into the cabin to cool it down quickly.

Your air con sometimes being cold and sometimes not doesn't sound like a gas problem. If it needed gassing then it would perform badly all the time. It's more likely a problem with the climate control system - when it gets hot it needs to mix more cold air to reach your 23-25 degrees and if it doesn't there lies your problem.

That does make sense. Although when I did set it to C (cool) it also did not come out as cold as it usually does. Saying that, they were stinking hot days. 43 degrees. Now that we are back in the 30s, the system is a lot cooler again.

Dont forget to take into account that if you are having 43+ days, that car is going to be a hell of alot hotter than that, so it is going to take a while to make any difference at all. I am not sure on the details of climate control, but just circulate the air in the car with the ac on, and crack open the windows for a litle while to let the hot air be forced out, then really crank the ac nice and cold. I know for myself with standard ac, i just have it on circulation with the ac fan on 2 with windows down for a couple of minutes. After about 5mins or so, it is getting to a nice temp. Maybe just something you should consider trying if you havent already
