Hi guys my vy's ideling a bit roughfly every now and then when cold, told it could be spark plugs, so i followed the advice on the forums and brought 6, NGK BPR6EFS15 spark plugs, and am wondering can you just put them in, or is there a little more involved? do you have to adjust the gap? or are they good to go?? thanks guys
They will generally be very close, if not exactly, set to what you need. If you don't have feeler guages, you would still be reasonably safe to put them in as they are. Just check that none have closed up the gap in transit.
There usually OK unless they have been dropped. I'd use a spark plug guage as feeler guages can sometimes not go in straight. Just use the spark plug guage and select the size below and above the one below goes through, the one above doesn't means they are OK.
hi guys,
instead of starting a new thread thought ild just ask in here
i have a 2002 VU 5.7L V8, im trying to find the gap size of the plugs and having no luck, can any one help?
also, are the codes able to be checked or will i need a scan tool
thanks guys![]()
Here it is for the 2002 models. See the site below
NGK Spark Plugs Australia
------------------------------------------
, Easy , the gap is 1mm or .038 " ( or 38thou feeler gauge) V6/superV6/5.7V8/6.0V8.
Most NGK's that are specified for these donks come pregapped but its worth the 5 mins it takes to check them JUST in case!!!!!![]()
colgf, They are not 1mm for a Super 6. It's 1.3mm for an L67 (Supercharged 6). And 1.5mm for a V6. The Gen 3 V8 also takes a 1.5mm. Definatly NOT 1mm. And also not the same for all engines!
Then Gen 4 V8 has the closest gapping to 1mm, but that is 1.1mm.
thanks for the help, you guys are great
wish i had found this site earlier so much good stuff in here
