Hi there, I have a 2003 Comm by Design VY which was going great but a few months ago, you'd start the car, then a rattly noise came out of the engine. When we looked under the bonnet, we realised it was the air-con compressor.
One guy told us our compressor was going and we'd have to get a new one, whilst a friend said it was just the clutch plate on the front of the compessor that was loose and should be tightened. Should we take it to an air-con place - I just don't want them to tell us - yep, $1000 later....
I am selling the car now (not for this reason) and afraid that the sound will put people off. Anyone have any advice, options or ideas? I will really appreciate any feedback...![]()
It also could be a collapsed bearing in the clutch assembly.. Not being able to hear the noise it's all really hard to tell to be honest... Mind It's easy enough to change.
Cheers,
Dave
I'd say collapsed bearing. A replacement compressor will set you back approx $650 plus a regas and labor but if your selling it it may pay you to hunt down a second hand unit.
