When I got my VY about 15 months ago the throttle was a bit sticky off idle, cleaning the carbon out from around the butterfly on the throttle body fixed that. Yesterday I had a look at it and noticed there was carbon building up again so I cleaned it however just in the plenum there is a thicker wet black deposit building up.
Questions are is this build up normal and does it eventually effect performance and fuel efficiency and can the plenum be cleaned on the car by removing the plenum top cover plate and is a new O ring required? I'll remove the throttle body next service and give it a good clean off the car, after you use throttle body cleaner is any lubricant required to lubricate the throttle body at all?
You'll find that behind the throttle butterfly (which will probably look spanky and clean now) there is a tons of gunk in the plenum itself. It wont' actually cause any problems unless it gets really bad (unlikely on a car which is relatively new like a VY), but if you want to clean it out it's easy enough to take the engine cover off, then the top of the plenum (there are 6 or 8 hex bolts around the edge, then it just lifts off if memory serves).
Give it a good spray with carby cleaner and you should be good to go.
If you want to go hardcore you can take the whole plenum off, if you do it's a bit more involved, but is a good opportunity to check your PCV valve and replace if needed.
