Default Maf Pipe gains on a stock LS1

Would there be any gains putting a bigger Maf pipe on a stock LS1? Stock meaning no OTR etc, just bog stock. Or would it be worth getting an OTR as well??

there would be gains, but not much. if you did go an otr it would require a mafless tune which wont be bog stock. altho im sure if seen otrs that suit a maf these days.

The VZ MAF pipe is supposed to be better because its bigger and smooth rather than accordian-like, but it also has a bigger MAF to match.

OTR is still supposed to be the king however, and works well in tandem with a MAFless tune if you're going down that road.

When i say OTR, i mean the SS inductions ones that go to the airbox. Not the straight over and in style ones that you have to use with a Mafless edit.

Danja: this one i am getting of Mike (Sphinx), it's one of the smooth bigger ones.

oh, and you dont NEED to go mafless to put an otr on, they just work very well inconjunction with each other. atm ive got an otr with the maf stilll in use

Yeah for now, i'm gonna go a normal OTR, because i'm gonna get my exhaust, headers, Mafless and straight over and in OTR done all in the one go, so i can feel a massive gain instead of getting little bits done here and there.

I'm not expecting massive gains, just a little better throttle response.

Do you mean CAI? OTR means literally it goes out of the throttle and over the radiator.

Yah that's what i meant, i have a habit of calling them all OTR's because, well, they sit on top of the radiator.

Will this VT - VX OTR fit a VY SS?:

SS Inductions - Performance Automotive Enhancements

Or are they shaped different due to different bonnet shapes.....??

So yeah, can anyone help me out with that? I'm hoping the VT - VX CAI fits a VY.....

Does the VY still have the coolant overflow behind the airbox? I know the VZ had it in front, so it probably wouldn't fit that. Don't know about the VY. Best shoot them an email and see what they say.

Yeah VY has the overflow behind the airbox! I checked the part numbers, one is CAI006 and one is CAI007.
