whenever i start my engine up (cold or hot) there is a weird noise coming from the back of the engine or the front of the transmission and it also occurs at low speeds (40k/h or less). The noise is hard to explain in words.....its like a turning, whirling type noise...like....buuuuuuuuuurrrrrnnnn. I have only noticed it (or it is more noticable) from inside the car (or it could be i wasnt fast enough to listen in with the bonnet open) so i cant particularly pin-point where it is coming from.
Does anyone else notice this noise? is it a problem or just standard?
I'll see if I can get a sound recording of it tomorrow and see if i can post it up if that helps....
Does it kinda sound like a tiny supercharger? Or a Gilmer belt drive? Like a whining sound?

If it's auto sorta sounds like the Torque Converter from where your saying it is.
it is an auto and I have thought it might be the torque converter....the noise comes from the passenger side of the car...
I have a similar noise, but it sounds like it's coming from under the engine in the middle. You never can tell exactly where from in the cabin i guess.

It has developed a new noise in the past few days.....when the car starts up from cold and is put into gear, there is a metalic/refrigeration type noise that happens intermitently for around 1 minute.
any thoughts?
