Default The two hole mod, REALLY worth it on an LS1?

I did a search, but couldn't find exactly what i was after. I'd like to know if the two hole mod is really worth the effort on an LS1? Or does it more or less just create a gay induction noise that everyone seems to think is awesome and worth the time of going through the whole procedure?

Does it ACTUALLY do anything for throttle response?

Don't waste your time. I think the only real difference is in people's minds. Didn't notice any difference at all. Waste of 2 hours of my time imo. Although my wife noticed the induction roar, I didn't.

Meh, i couldn't give a toss about induction noise, that's all wank factor in my opinion. If i want induction noise, i'll strap a blower to my LS1.

I also just realised, my ute is an 04' series 2 VY SS, i think they actually came with the Monaro intake from factory. Pretty sure they have the induction hole AND a sort of scoop next to the hole in the lower half of the airbox.

Take the top of your airbox off and have a look. Only a few screws to remove. I know Holmart sell the bottom half of the Monaro CAI for about $20 but I can't remember part numbers.

Sweet thanks man! I'm hoping mine was one of the series 2 SS's that had the MCAI.

I'd just leave it stock. If you want a better intake the OTR is the way to go. If you hack up your factory parts its just going to translate to lower resale value. If you go the OTR you can always just reinstall the factory intake pipe later if you want to sell.

I have a 2005 CV8Z , 260kw LS1 Monaro & it only has the one hole air cleaner as stock,so I dont know how come the earlier Monaros had stock 2 hole inlets??? Anyway, so I have done the 2 hole mod. I reckon its worth it, its an easy mod & isnt seen from the top so shouldnt affect resale value , I think just looking at the single hole inlet , it just looks too small when compared to the throttle body diameter. Theres no noticeable inlet roar heard , but I guess on full throttle there would be , especially with a K&N air filter. So for an hour & a couple of bucks its a great mod.....

Yeah but did you feel any noticible gains? If it just creates induction noise, even if it took 5 minutes, it's worth the effort in my opinion. Induction noise is gay. If i want sweet induction noise, i'll buy a supercharger.

Hahaha, that's what i'm saving for now. But need to do the exhaust and extractors before i go with a Mafless and OTR to save having the tune touched up a second time.

My throttle response increased, however not an SS, and it has a supercharger on it. If your CAI gets cool air, then go for it. Holden knew the inlet was restricting it which is why a couple of vehicles even had the inlet gap increased to try and get more air in. I didn't change my filter or anything else, just the massive hole and pipe. Definatly felt better and none of this crappy sucking noise people are talking about. Maybe when i change my filter it will come though

My quick Vy 2 hole mod review:

    1. Turn car on
    2. Noise similar to something you'd hear if someone pointed a vacuum cleaner at you when cold.

    The end.
