gidday , Ive just been told that if you remove the cat on the exsaust you get more kms for your dollar .
Our holden has done 143 , so they say that the cat needs replacing @150km .
has anyone heard this also
Removing the Catalytic Converter and driving on a road is illegal.
Any (ANY) modification(s), unless approved to ADR standards, that change/alter/modify any aspect of your vehicle from the ADR standards/requirements that existed at the time of manufacture of your vehicle are ILLEGAL.
Why not go for a high flow cat instead of making your car illegal? That will get better flow over your normal cat
Why not try a bigger exhaust from the cat back and see what happens, if your not happy then try extractors and/or a high flow cat however they are expensive so you have to work out how long the fuel saving will take to recover the cost and correct me if I am wrong these bigger exhaust systems fromthe cat back are steel and will rust our where as the one on the car is stainless and will last a lot longer. What sort of fuel consumption are you getting and how hard do you drive it? I'm happy with what my VY does, up to 30% les fuel than my old VN V6 so I am going ot leave my eexhaust as it is unless it ever needs to be replaced. VN has 300,000 and the cat was never replaced.
theres also the little perk of extra performance and beastier sound if you go for the exhaust/catback + extractors, so yeah...might wanna go for that, better fuel economy and an all round better performing cara, im saving for mine as we speak!
