Default Plug in front side of MAF pipe...

On my VY SS, there is a one small plug in the side of the MAF pipe on the front side (sort of behind the headlight). What is this plug? Only reason i ask, is because i got a GTS MAF pipe last night and there is no hole for this plug, is it essential to have this plug in the GTS pipe?

cobez, sounds like the IAT(intake airtemp) sensor. one the bottom of the maf pipe there's a flat circle. firstly get the 3 dollar circular clip from holden that holds the IAT sensor in place. just ask for an IAT sensor clip for a series 1 VX, drill a hole in the pipe, stick the sensor in and push the clip over the end then reconnect and all is good.

if ya can post a pic of what you're seeing so I can be 100% sure.

saw a pic of a VY SS here but I can't see the sensor as the black shroud hides everything.

yup, that's your IAT sensor. just follow the steps I posted here earlier and you'll be right. My VX had the same setup but I ended up putting that sensor in the front of my airbox. if you want to we can swap airbox lids as mine is already setup with the IAT in it.

They reckon there is no clip for any IAT sensor. I hung up because he sounded that thick that i was getting angry.

And the stupid **** kept thinking i was saying IAC sensor until i screamed it down the phone at him. He kept saying "i don't know what an IAC sensor is". Then i said mate, an IAC sensor is an "Idle air control" sensor, but THAT'S NOT WHAT I WANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks Ziggy, good work dude!!!

Mike, i'm gonna drill an 8MM or thereabouts hole in the front of the pipe, then hopefully i can push it in and the little ridges it has on the sensor itself will pop through and hold it in, same deal at the original maf pipe.

sounds like a plan. I secured mine in my airbox with 3 rubber o-rings and it was a factory fit. top half of my airbox on standby....

Hahaha, good call on the airbox lid

Should be ok. The sensor barrel looks to be about 8MM in thickness, gonna start with a 6MM hole, if not big enough, step up to a 7MM hole etc etc until it fits in snug. But yeah, airbox lid on standby just in case
