Hi guys
Help needed urgently. The antenna won't go up fully or go down fully. My main worry is the "kut kut kut" sound when it's on either end. It's like the motor is trying to push it up and wind it down but something's stopping it. Worried I might blow the antenna motor.
All suggestions thanked in advance!!
Borrow money from a Pessimist-They DON'T expect it back!
my antenna has that sound but it still operates. but the sound is really annoying me, so i want to find out how to stop the sound. but cant help ya with it not going fully up or down
the band that operates the antenna of the motor has snapped. you can either replace the band or the whole unit. not sure how to replace the band, but i got holden to do it for me, i think it cost $45 - $50 from memory.
you can buy a replacement rope and mast from any car accsesory shop. but be sure to get the right one. series 1 and series 2 have different antennas. i think they change 07/2003 i just replaced mine it had the instructions on the back of the pack. it was hard to get the old one out just wrestle with it.
dave-the-sparky, that's good advice, my aerial was moving but not going fully down because a low lying tree hit it. I replaced the mast in it.... it still makes the sound, but it goes fully up and fully down (further into the vehicle than the old one anyways). Not sure on a solution for this one, but i live with it :P
Mine has done this "kut, kut" noise for the four years I've owned the car, about four or five clicks after fully extending and retracting, no bother, however with not going up/down all the way, though.
Check for any slight bends in the mast as this can cause it to not want to fully go up and down. From memory I think mine did this not long after I bought the car and was just a slight bend in the mast that I was able to gently straighten.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
VYMAD, it's not the mast. It was a brand new mast and has done it since the day i installed it. There were no kinks in it. What i suspect has happened is the aerial may have been changed over before for the newer one and my VIN states that the aerial should be the older one, so when i replaced the mast i may have gotten the wrong one. Either way it goes down a littler further than it should, but i'm not fussed![]()
