Oil and Coolant Change 5.7L Caprice

Hey fellas,

I'm looking at changing the oil and coolant in my Caprice, and was wondering what is the best type to put in?

2004 VY 5.7L Caprice.

It has orange coolant at the moment, any help would be greatly appreciated.

i did my coolent an was told to you a gicrasrol free one or something, using normal coolent will stuff the head or what ever so im told, i used motul one cant remember the name, i got it from autobarn

Do you mean Glycol? Holden use two different types of coolant. Green in everything V6 pre VZ and Red in everything V8 (LS1) and VZ V6. This is because of the way the chemicals in the coolant react with the aluminium in the motors.

Go to Holden, get a 5L bottle of concentrate coolant. Shouldnt cost more than $40. Ask for long life. It will last 5 years in the system. The red coolant has a lifespan of 5 whereas the green has a span of about 3.

yeah thats it lol, i got the red one, cost me 40 bucks
