Replacing ekectric arial with manual arial?

Title says it all, my sisters VY wagon arial is buggered and needs a replAcement but can't afford the $120 - $150 for a new electric arial - so we are thinking to just chuck in a manual 1 which is $40 from Holden.

Can it be done?

Of course it can be done.. the radio will not go into melt down simple

More just wondering about the connection inside the front guard.... don't want to go buy the thing, rip out the guard and find the the connections are different!

Standard ant connection and you may find it'll be on the inside of the car

Can I ask what the issue is?

Sister told me that it stopped working.... then when car was in an accident the panel beater ripped it out...
