stereo won't turn off??

my sister has a vy acclaim and sometimes when she turns the car off and takes the keys out of the ignition the stereo turns itself back on??? normally when you put the keys back in and turn it on and off again it will go off?? cna anyone tell me why its doing it? it also does it occasionally with other accesories?? it has had a replacement standard stereo and was also doing it before the stereo was changed...

After you turn the car off and take the keys out the stereo doesn't turn off untill you open the door. If if it still on after opening the door than i don't know what the go is??
So just to clarify if she was to turn car off and lock car and come back later the stereo might still be on from when she left??

yes if she turns the car off and gets out and locks it,the stereo stays on sometimes it takes a few goes of putting the keys back in the ignition and turning it on and off before it will actually stay off????

If the stereo remains on after opening the door, you need to fiddle around with the little button that lets the car know when the door is open or shut. You will find it in between the door hinge and the actual car itself. Twist it around a bit because if it doesnt pop out when the door is open, then the car continues to think that the door is shut.

Get her to see if the interior light is on when the radio stays on with the door open and the key out.
If it's off,it's probably a door switch.
If it's on,it's probably a BCM (body control module) problem or a problem with earth or voltage circuits to and from the BCM.

My VY II Storm has been doing the same thing, when i turn the ute off, the stereo will stay on even after i get out, i noticed it the 2nd of having it, its just the little button in between the body and door, i dont mind it, as i get out my foot just taps the button gently and it turms everything off, just seems like it may be sticking slightly.

i have the same problem on my vy s ute, when it happens i just push the button on the door a few times and it turns off. it's a black button with 2 Phillips head screws holding it in, i think they play up commonly in this model of car.

Something similar happened with my VY recently. I parked it and came back and sat in the passengers side with the window down. When I wanted to leave it the window would ot go back up so I turned on the ignition, and put the window up. When I took out the key and locked the car the radio did not turn off. It has never done it before or since. I don't rally know why the switches are fine and the interior light works.

That is because when you turned the ignition off, the car is assuming that you are sitting in the driver's seat, and only the driver's door can turn off the stereo.... So if you never opened the drivers door how would it know that you have left the car....
