    Default 1uz/2jz in vy ute

    hi all,
i have a vy strom ute and rather than spend money on the ecotec it has, im considering converting it to another engine, 1uz (Supercharged) or 2jz gte maybe . my question is because the 1uz engine was last produced in the year 2000 and my ute is a 2004 model does this mean it cannot be engineered because of the epa laws?

first post one here so be nice lol

    cheers

It would be more expensive trying to fit that up then to just buy a V8 and drop that in.

2jzgt are good motors. But probably cost as much as an LS2. And the fact that they're 3ltr's means they're going to lack low end torque.

Then to top it off, you can't legaly have it in a 2004 model vehicle due to emmisions regulations.

In the long run it will work out a whole lot less expensive to sell your car and buy an SS V8 ute in the VY or VZ model. There are plenty on the market.

Put a whole lot of dollars into the engine of your current car and I will guarantee you that you won't get most of it back.

that makes it hard to justify i agree, would a sweet car tho, i have a thing for dohc engines lol, not that there is anything wrong with the chevy engines, they are very light for their power/size, i know of a few companys that put them in aircraft.
    cheers.

    Ey mate,

Would be a very interesting swap, the mighty 2J in a ute...
Obviously money isn't a concern and you understand that you could probably buy and fit an LS1 + a turbo kit for the cost to get the 2J running and engineered...

I'd also ask this question on toymods, ive seen an LS1 in a KE20 corolla, so im sure someone over there has put a 2J in a commodore.

I do think you will struggle with emissions law, being a newer car with an older motor, 2Js stopped production in 2002 and the 1UZ in 2000...

    Good luck mate
