Replacing Antenna

Sorry in advance if this is a simple question.

I'm sick of my big, ugly, clunky antenna! Looks like sh*t!

So...
I was wondering whether its possible to replace the standard antenna with one that comes out of the rear window? (or front windscreen)

If possible how would I go about installing this?

And would it affect the reception at all?

get yourself a VE antennae for the roof. drill and mount, run the wires under the roof linining.
won't affect reception. you can bog the hole in the guard.

Don't worry about the front window mounted one - after having my stupid, ugly, fender mounted one wiped out 3 times (by someone who will remain nameless - we live on a dirt road with overhanging bushes), I went to Strathfield and got them to install a front window mounted one. They warned me before installation that AM reception was crap and they were 100% right!

I like the ABC but unless your car is pointed at the transmitter, i.e. the antenna is perpendicular to the transmitter( this means towards the ABC transmitter near Liverpool in Sydney) then the AM reception is really poor.

FM doesn't seem too bad but I'm completely over 2-DAY FM and all the advertising.

The roof mounted one seems to be the go. Can anyone recommend someone who would install this for me - somewhere in Penrith maybe?
