Speakers in a VY

The time has come to do my sound system. Pretty sure I'm gona do most things Kicker.
Gona put splits in the front and 6's in the back doors.

Does anyone know if 6.5" speakers will fit?

There is so many Kicker 6.5" splits on the market but not many 6".

6.5'' will fit with modification of the speaker pods. You will have to enlarge the opening and remove the lower basket of the pod. it wont actually change anythingbesides the size, just removing unneeded material.

Take it slow tho, you need to take most of it off. I was only left with the width of a small screw after i took enough material away to fit a 6.5'' soundstream speaker.

personally, i measured and drew a circle that passed throught the center of the original holes for the screws holding the OEM speaker, then took a dremal and sanded away until the speaker fit.

Wouldnt go astray fitting as many screws as the speaker allows you to aswell

if you want to go hektik wiith sound lol go with the new jl ute subs very powerfull systemm but also very expensive looking to spend around upto 2k if you would like more info i can find out the model number.

i have 6.5" in all my doors, went straight in no hastle and defs no cutting

i have kicker DS 600's in my front doors and they crank no problems definately the hardest door speakers ive heard and my friends always ask where i have the sub hidden aha

would definately recommend them as they also only cost about 80 for a pair

yeh i got jvc 6.5s and they dropped in fine. oh and fyi, touch wood I have been more than happy with them..

I have Jaycar Response Kevlar 6.5s and all they all required cutting as the drivers are far deeper and a little larger diameter then the standard units.

The Venom 6.5s i put in my dad's VY also required cutting.

It'll depend on the size of the magnet and basket as to whether 6.5 or even 6" speakers will fit in the door pods without cutting. I wouldn't stress about it though, it is literally 5 mins extra if they don't fit in right away.

yeah they will fit you will just have to customize the original housing

i just installed some 6" kicker splits in my vy..they go plenty fine so unless ya want the extra hassle of cutting the speaker pod in the door i wouldnt worry bout goin 6.5"
