Hi Guys,
I have recently put VE HSV wheels on my VY S Pac..they look awesome, however due to the large spaces in them you can see the ugly brake calipers.
Has anyone painted their calipers? Or found coloured calipers that fit a VY Commodore?
Thanks.
hey, im not 100% on whether they fit coz i didnt really pay attention to them but i remember seeing coloured brembo cases that u tighten up over the top of the standard ones on ebay. just search them under brembo brake covers
Cheers
damn beat me haha
Thanks for the fast response guys..
Has anyone actually fitted the covers?
If so how did they fit? and do they look nice?
How to paint your brakes
paint ur rotor hubs too if they're rusted (Y)
Go down to your local supercheap auto store and get (one) that is all you need POWERPLUS SPRAY AND BRUSH SYSTEM spray paint I think it's under $20 if you want to get red probably go for MONZA RED as I got told it's the same color as brembo or something like that I can tell you it looks good I done three coats with it on each of my caliper's almost a year ago just clean the caliper with a wire brush and soapy water let dry then coat giving 10 mins between each coat with no need to prime the calipers and yes I have got the calipers very hot on some occasions after doing it and they have still not flaked off.
i used red heat proof spray paint havnt had any trouble with it flaking either
I painted my calipers and rotors.
I just used some wax and grease remover, one coat on a rag that was saturated, let it dry then another coat of the stuff but not so drenched this time, let it dry and i used the specific heat red on my rotors, and black on my calipers.
Didn't use any primer, just sprayed straight on (bought from Auto One), waited for them to dry, then another 2 coats as i love the darker colour, and i reckon a couple more coats won't hurt.
It's been almost 2 years now and the colour is still on there and hasn't flaked off or come off or anything.
The only thing i'd suggest, if painting rotors, let the paint dry fully before putting back on, as when the wheels go back on, i found that getting my rims off was a bit hard due to the paint drying solid on the rims and we had to get a massive lever to get them off lol

those brembo covers are made to glue onto your existing caliper. They do work fine, but make it akward to remove and replace pads as they limit acsess to the caliper piston
just sand back the rotor to the original silver and paint the calipers if you really want to, i personally think that the red calipers is too rice, i'd just go with black or something (or nothing like i did :P)
livin' the low life.
dont buy the brembo cases...looks rice
spray them like danieLOL stated, same thread im going to use, i just need the time
DO NOT GET THOSE!!
my mate got them, got them fitted by autobarn properly, within a week 3 of them fell off!
then he bought anouther set and drilled them into calipers, after a while the bolts started rubbing on brake discs, basically needed whole new ####ing discs, pads, calipers lol
just paint them, take your time, cover everything else up with plastic, use metho or something to clean them and your set!
cheers
Looking to buy VE super sport replica's
go to bunnings and get some heat resitent red paint and spray them yourself
spray them yourself mate.. i used to have a VS clubby and i did it myself.. was the best thing i could do! they turned out aweseom and while i was there i repainted my HUB black as it was rusty and that also turned out mickey mouse. make sure u give them a good sand first or clean them with steel wool![]()

"Wait are we still talking about cars!?"
I painted my sports rotors red and my calipers black. Looks great, and was ssssooooooooooooooooooooo easy to do.
Just get some grease and dirt remover, soak the cloth and wipe it on. then dry it off, spray the rotors / calipers to the darkness or colour you want to, and let them dry, then put it all back together.
I got my heat resistant paint from Auto One, but you can get the spray cans from just about anywhere.
make sure they are the heat resistant ones thou, otherwise they will burn off rather quickly lol
