Piston slap or stuck lifter(s)

I have this ticking noise in my LS1 that does not go away I`ve learnt piston slap only lasts mostly from warm to operating temp because of the various expanding rates of all the materials used, mine stays like it all the time, has anyone had piston slap that did not go away?
