    Default NGK Iridium Spark Plugs?

Hey dudes, i've been reading and thinking about upgrading the normal spark plugs with some Iridium ones, they seam to be pretty cool and whatnot, But i've been looking on ebay for them but there is lots of types and i'm not sure which one would best fit into a 2003 VY Series 2..
I have also looked on the NGK website for a part number, but i cant seam to find anything on their Iridium range on plugs, only the standard stuff.

Also since i'm thinking of getting new plugs, i was gonna get new leads aswell.. Which ones do you guys recommend? Preferably from ebay if possible,
I was looking at these Eagle Eliminator ones:
EAGLE ELIMINATOR SPARK PLUG LEADS COMMODORE VT VX VY VU - eBay Ignition Wires, Ignition Systems, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 12-May-10 22:38:31 AEST)
They look alright? .. or are they crap?

    Thanks for the help dudes!!!!!

Genuine plugs n leads are the best you will get IMO. Once you have alot of mods and they no longer do the job then you may want to look at MSD leads and a different heat range and gap of a standard style plug. I've seen many cars running 10s and 9s on similar plugs to what are in your car now.

You must not have looked hard enought It says "Standard to Iridium >>"
    http://www.ngk.com.au/sparkplug_vehicle_type.php

Search for your current plug (non iridium) and remember the part number. Go to this link http://www.ngk.com.au/iridium.php and select your current plug, it will then tell you what you need to use in iridium. Benefits of using these plugs is that you dont have to change them as often (up to 100,000km) and they produce a much better spark

As for leads, the Bosch sport series are great (8mm sprial wound). The leads you have shown seem a little high for what I would pay, can get them for around $55 and you wont have to pay postage (Repco / Autobarn etc)

thanks dudes for the info. i know they dont really do much, but im starting to run out of stuff to do to the car, as im only on P's and im just about to hit the power limit lol

and i looked at the standard to iridium part, but yeh it has a list of part numbers and i have no idea what to look for lol.. but your links helped and now i know haha .. i found this to be the proper part number for anyone interested "BPR6EFIX-15" ..

the leads im still lost on, i tried looking for the bosch sport ones and ebay doesn't have any for the VY's.. and the MSD ones only seam to be for the V8s and their like 150$ lol..
Any others you guys recommend? ..
    Thanks dudes!

Good to start easy and go from there. The leads you saw on ebay will work fine. I would ask for a price from your local auto shops as I saved quite a few $ buying local for the same thing that I seen on ebay. Shop around and you will be fine

Platinum plugs are just as good.

If its gen 3 the part number is for NGK

    PZTR5A-15
    stock number - 7862

Thats for Platinum as they dont make Iridium for LS1.

Huh? Better check out IZTR5B11 - NGK Laser Iridium Spark Plugs. These are the ones I currently use in my LS1
Its not listed on the Aussie site but these plugs are for the GTO, or Gen3 equivalent

There was a listing on ebay for NGK Part Number PZTR5A-15. Might pay to check those out as well
They are not the right plugs for that engine.

The last number tells you the plug gap and those plugs are running smaller gaps than recomended specs.
Sure they might fit but they are not set correct and should realy be opened up in gap or used in Forced induction or high compression motors.

Why is 1.1 the wrong gap?

The TR55-IX are another NGK plug that may be used and it runs a smaller gap again (although for this type I would go cooler)

If anything the OEM plugs for a Gen3 (AC Delco) is part # 41-985 (Platinum)

Why bother going platinum or iridum. They have a lhigher spark over voltage over cheaper standard plugs. The fancy metals were only made so manafactures could say there engine doesn't need regular servicing as much.
