Default back speakers not working and no fader option on stock stereo

picked up my vyII s a week before last and only just realised a few days ago that the rear door speakers arent working. i feel a bit stupid for only just realising.

i thought dodgy wiring at first but i havent got a fader option on the stock blaupunkt deck.
anyone have an ideas as to what it might be?

it could possibly be that the wiring has simply come loose, has the door cover been removed at any stage?

not that i know of. so if the back speaker wires have just come loose would that stop the fader function from appearing on the stereo screen?

yea but they would charge a fair bit for what could be a simple problem, if you are going to upgrade the headunit, then it might be better to just wait til you get a new one

haha i would love steering wheel controls lol, but i didnt get the option haha, well then i would suggest speaking to the guy you bought it off, and probly going to alberts, im assuming he is a car audio place?, if you go there ask him about the controls, because ive heard you can get headdecks to meet up w/ the controls sometimes, so they dont get wasted.

ahh got if figured guys. took it to an audio joint and they had a look. took him 2 seconds to say its not the original deck, its from a vy ute. so identicle deck but theres nowhere for back speakers to plug into. hence no sound from back speakers.

I was going to suggest that you check if it was from a Ute.
Apparently Holden can "unlock" the stereo so that all 4 speakers work. How true that is I do not know but I would say something can be done as they are all the same internals, just slightly different options.

You could do that although I personally wouldn't as the head unit has to power both speakers from each output, might sounds like crap when the volume is turned up.

I would go for an aftermarket stereo and get a steering wheel control adaptor. Brands such as "The Cat", "PAC" or similar do simple kits that allow you to keep the full function of your steering wheel controls. I have used the Cat in my Ute and is perfect. Easy to install.

Mind you, Holmart.com.au have new 6 stacker units for $275

Someone on here had a factory headunit for sale in the f/s section, but that was a while ago.

Absolute bullshit. Holden used Tech 2 to enable the rear channels on my ute's stock cd player. I can't for the life of me remember how i got them to do it (i found the info on this site), but in one category i told them to change the mode from 6 to 9 and BAM, 4 channels.

Why am i not surprised! thats an std answer they should have in the Holden service manual.

To the OP, you have a HU out of a ute thats why the rear speakers ain't working. I had the same issue when i installed the std 6 stacker, which was out of a ute aswell. To get them to work, the rear channels have to be enabled. Holden know this, there just playing silly buggers.

I had to explain it to them very carefully, cause there not very bright. A know & behold they enabled the rear channels. If ur not specify enough, they'll say no cant be done.

    Good luck!

right now i'm not sure if this is for VE's or what, but you could perhaps try this.

to enable rear speaker outputs in utes.. turn your ignition on and turn off ur cd player. then hold next track and next disc and power button in at the same time for about 10-15 seconds and the service menu will come up. then change the 2 channels into 4 channels =]
