VY Calais starting problem

When car has been stopped for a while (30 mins or so) and go to restart the check engine warning comes on. If leave ignition on for about 1 min the check engine goes off and engine starts as normal.
When restarting after a short stop, say a few minutes, the car starts normally (no check engine alarm). Sounds to me like an electronic component like a condenser is failing - but which one and how to find out?

There should be an error code logged which you will need to read.
