    Default New Calais owner

Well today I went car shopping after finaly getting all my insurance money from my wrote off, and I was keen as mustard to buy a new car.

We went looking and at the first car yard I saw the niceest merc, full power option, memory seats, heated front and back, was approved finace on the spot, but the price was a little more than I wanted, so I decided to power on and come back, after seeing 3 private cars, and 12 car dealer ships I was ready to go pick up the merc when we came across a Gemini in a car yard for 1500 an 4 mnths rego I was ready to drive out, only after the test drive did I realise the car sales guy was the bigggest wanker, 1 owner it's hole life, full service history traded in by old people, yet it had 2 kill switchs, was rusted to the #### house, cut rear springs, and a dodgy webbber slapped on the engine, at this point IDE given up and me and mum were walking back to go home, when she saw a Calais and wanted to have a look (my dad needs a new car as well both our cars were stolen withing 2 weeks) and when I saw it I was sold, 120k 9 months rego and no problems bar a tiny paint chip on the rear, and a few stone chips near the front bar, all for the price of $8k, needless to say I threw down the deposit and I'm picking it up next weekend.

But I have a few questions
series 1 calais v6 what will I be looking at for fuel econnomy how many k's per full tank on premium?
Panel beater or touch up guys for the 2 paint blemishes.
I've already ordered sssl rear springs and ssl fronts, will 19" rims tuck? Or is I possible to tuck 18"

and with regard go the sound sytem when I sell it when I'm on my fills after 2 years I want to have it stock as a rock cause rims and springs will be thrown on my new car (vz ss) so is there a way to add an AUX to factory headunit, or is it better to add a new HU and put the factory one in when I sell it.

Thanks I'm so glad to be a Holden owner yeat again after the kefuffle with my torana

congrats on the car, yes it is possible to add a aux port, it's sticky'd in the top of this forum champ, the springs you might have problems with putting 19's on without rolled guards, i've got a vy ute with SSL in the back and SL's in the front and mine rubs with the tiniest amount of weight in the back, so much so that i'm putting stockys back on it to end the problems. I can't tell you specifically what fuel economy you'll get with your car but in my VY S ute i get around 13.5/100kms which works out to around 400kms to a tank and thats not driving hard at all. i don't believe you'll get anything out of filling it with premium as the cars come out with a 91RON tune so they don't appreciate the higher octane petrols (correct me if i'm wrong).
Good luck with the car mate.

it was either a shitty hyundai company car, or a fuel account with work, i opted for the fuel account, cause work now pays for mine and the misses fuel and they think its cause my car drinks alot haha

Good score on the car my old man had a series 1 exec and was was getting just under 10l/100k which was mostly motorway driving. I've got a modified stock head unit that has aux in and 4ch rca output which was done by phreddy (ASR Audio and Electronics at the top of the forum) which i was going to put in my SV8 but going to sell the car now so not gonna bother putting the H/U in, if you would like to purchase.

i drive pretty hard i get about 500km to a tank, as for your springs going from v6 calais to vz ss, no joy as far as i know... maybe the rears but the 8's need stronger springs up front because of the extra weight...

Well the selling the car idea is out the window cause the misses wants it once we pay off her car, kinda good cause well have 2 holdens in the family.

Is anyone running 20" or 19" rims?
I want a set of 19"s with sssl rears, I know I'll need to roll the guards, but will it tuck?
And will I need a camber kit?
Wat price would I be looking at all up roughly?

How much of a reduction, I'm noy planing on just pulling out the springs and throwing in new ones, cause I'm not buying a Calais to make it drive like shit, I would have bought a 121 lol. Will there be much quality lost even if I do new spring struts ect? With if needed full camber kit?

Or would coils be the best road to go down?
