Default vy ls1 high idle!! please help.

Hey guys i got my vy ls1 ute and i have noticed that when it warms up it seems to idle high (1500 rpms). now i have looked into this and i checked the PCV hose and i replaced it because the old one the join was busted. Yet again it still does it. What else should i check for? it has had a maffless tune and many people have told me that its some throttle cracker? also sometimes my car seems to be weird and when i start it and pump the aircon the car will seem to stall? please help thanks

    mines been doing the same.

i fixed mine by changing the TPS (throttle positon sensor). i got mine from holden for $280 (i only use GM parts for sensors etc).

also other key points to look at.
stepper motor on throttle body. (if you look at your TB, you will see two sensors on the right hand side. the bottom one is the TPS. top one is the stepper motor)
    TPS (throttle position sensor)
PVC lines (check for cracks, check the ends are contected properly
o2 sensors in your exhuast maybe gone
    it maybe tune related.
want to see more then a typical commodore fitted with an exhuast, then check my thread out... link broken cuase i dont own a tuff car, i just made it up...

    Smile Vy high Idling

    Hi,
thanks for the response. I got my vy sitting in the garage since my mechanics place is closed. however im really keen to fix that myself. I removed the sensor from the top of the throttle body wich i believe is the IAC. it had plenty of carbon, so cleaned it up with carby cleaner and i noticed that the spring is very sticky and it wont return to its original position. but everything back again and the problem is still here. I wanted to take the whole throtttle body out but the black PVC tube seem to be stuck with the throttle body. do you have any idea about how to take the pvc tube off?
also i will be changing both sensors during the week. I hope it gets fixed.
    thanks for the response mate!

i think the vx an vy have different pcv setups so it might fit but will have the stupid vx setup.

Following threads from this website, i cleaned the two sensors in the throttle body. Disconnected the battery for 10 minutes and connect again to reset the computer. start the engine and keep accelerating for 10 secs at 2000rpm. Mine got fixed after doing all the above.

Short Method from LS1 forum Fast idle relearn [Archive] - Australian LS1 and Holden Forums

    Short method after reset:

turn on the reds, don't start.
push the gas pedal down 3-5 times.
    turn off reds
    start car

    -----------------------

My car is a stock standard 04 CV8 and I have tried the short method and it worked fine for me.

My car was idling high, around 1000/1100 rpm then after doing the relearn it has gone down to 800 (on the cluster not measuring with any plug in stuff).

Still goes a bit high when i first put the clutch in but, up say 50 to 150 rpm but aparently thats normal.
