    Default On-car disk machining

due to uni and work commitments, im having a hard time finding time to give up the car for a day. Ive been looking for afew mobile machining guys, and before i go to far into it (coz they're a bitcht to find)

Does anyone know if they are able to do this with a regular VY rear disk? Some peopl have said it cant be done because its no actualy bolted to the hub, unlike most 4wd ro front wheel drive cars. Is this true???

There are such blokes that will machine from the back of there utes.. As far as them removing and replacing them for you, I have my doubts (that'll be your job). To be honest if it's a stock rotor just buy a new new one as there not that much coin
    Cheers,

I agree with just getting new discs, not much different in price. Also to hold the discs on the hub while machining you just put the wheel nuts back on.

Don't waste your time. New quality rotors are quite cheap to buy for Commodores (eg AC DElCO under 90 per disc). Buy them and book into a brake shop or workshop to have them changed over. You will be in and out in less than 1.5 hours. If the brake pads are low you should get them done at the same time to save future labour charges.

$90, bugger that. GSLRallySport, a sponsor here on the forums will sell RDA standard rotors at $46 for fronts and $39 for the rear, of course confirm this with Greg.

And if you have any mechanical knowledge you can do the discs yourself. Just take wheel off, take two bolts holding caliper off, slide caliper off disc, slide old disc off, and reverse for install. Of course change pads at the same time. Just take one bolt off caliper, top pivots ups, just take old pads out and put new ones in, and reverse. Really once you have the wheel off, it takes no more that 15 minutes a side.

easy as to do just remember to have the handbrake off and re adjust if neccasarry after re fitting new disks. you may have to back the hand brake off a touch to get the disk off though
