    Default VY brake noise

I hear cars with them all the time, an intermitant shh, shh, shh, shh, shh. It changes when the car speeds up or slow down

Some people say its because people drop the wheels on the dust cover and it hits the disk, but to me if that was the case with mine it would be a constant shhhhhhhhhh

Only other idea is that the rear brakes are warped. Is this the obvious case or can this also be something much more serious??

Mine did this after i changed my calipers to bigger ones. Turns out the shims that hold the pads in were bent a little and hitting the disc making the shh shh shh shh shh noise.

If it makes a shh shh shh noise as the wheel turns, then the rotor isn't perfectly straight. It's just the sound of the pads touching them, if the steering wheel or the brake pedal doesn't vibrate under brakes it is fine.

There was a change to the hand brakes during the Vy production, the shoe can drag on the drum and make a scuffng noise so a bracket and spring were added to keep the shoe in the right place. You can buy the bracket and spring ina kit from Holden it has instructions on where to drill a hole inthe brake shoe but if this has been replaced since that mod then they will probably have the hole in them already.
