Default External mods /SSX kits /SS/HSV headlights

    Alright couple of questions...

Does anybody have this kit on/ know anyone that does/ have any feedback about it?
New VY SSX Bodykit - eBay Body Kits, Exterior, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 21-May-10 15:48:31 AEST)
-seems pretty nice to me i really dont mind it but would hate to spend the money and find out its crap or fits weirdly... (also what do you think my clearance will be with King SSL in front and Lovell SSSL in back)

as for headlights, im currently liking the hsv ones over the ss ones just because the indicator lights are split instead of the solid one you see on a ss... will hsv fit straight up to my exec? also i heard you can paint up exec ones to look like an ss... does anybody know much about this?

and last for now but definately got more questions in the future.... if i were to wire up power windows into the back (for some lame reason which is totally ridiculous i only have the front windows power) how would i go about laying wires etc i have a series 2 exec. i understand there will be a hole in the door trim but i plan to use those immitation leather car seats you see on ebay for pretty cheap so ill get extra material to use in the door trims so i can hide the holes...

any and all info is appreciated thanks guys

i personally like the look of the SSX kit, i can see alot of people not...

Clearance for SSSL will be slim.. but it would fit and would look decked as.. i suggest keep the same height all round rather than just dumping the rear (most people that do that get flamed on here)

I think the HSV headlights are a touch too big to fit with your exec bodykit.. but if you decide to get the SSX kit you can find out from the makers if they'd fit. SS lights are a straight swap with exec.

I assume being an exec like mine, holden leave you with no additional wiring looms. so wiring those rear windows maybe difficult.. and pricey.. you'd need to buy the full power window actuator, switches, looms etc.. but there's a how-to section if your still interested.

As for the fake leather seats, ask them to send you a sample.. i was told to do that from somebody in here and thank them incredibly.. it's really not a nice material. defiantly got the looks but feels like rubbish.

yeah im not fussed about the price of rear power windows im so sick of getting into the car when its hot and not being able to vent the hot air in the back, i live in outback qld its shocking temps here.

i do like the kit i think its nice just comes down to how it was painted really i dont think id do it 100% silver would need to break it down a bit.

and with the springs- do you think id be better to even it with ssl all round or sssl all round? im thinking ssl cos its low enough already but with the kit... i cant imagine...

might just get the ss lights to save trouble.. and as for the seats cheers for the tip definately a good idea!

happy to take advice from you your car is horn as

im sure the diff between ss headlights and hsv is that they dont have the little tear drop where the parker light is?? if so youll need to get a kit that doesnt have this teardrop in it. However, wether hsv or ss they will bolt straight up

As for the wiring, it should just run along under teh scuff plate trim, up the cover for the seatbelt an there should be holes covered by gromets, sorta like the way the front doors are if you open them and have a look in the gap.
All else fails there should be tonnes of diagrams avalible throught something like a gregorys manual or googal image serch

I'd probably go all silver with a black mesh behind it.

Sort of what i mean (but with silver car and black mesh)

Well i don't know what size differences sssl and ssl are, but i'd probably go 2" lower all round. usually looks nice and clean.

Find out what lights fit with the SSX front bar before you buy the them.

    Thanks bud!

My only concern buying an ebay bodykit is that it might not fit up correctly.. i'd be messaging them asking as many questions as possible.. there's a few people here with SSX bodykits, maybe speak with them and ask where they got it from. I know SSV and Carmate sell them but at double the price.

ah no way thats the headlights i like... so if i were to get them would i just get a vz kit and get those lights or would it not work like that? i like the idea of the black mesh too its what i was thinking but i want the black on the middle section of the bumper too like... i cant explain it but kinda what the evos look like.

i did ask the seller he said it will bolt straight onto vy exec series 2 so i think im in the clear, though i asked him about spotties and havent had a reply... i dont think ill be jumping into the sale im pretty patient anyway so ill just wait til im comfortable that im getting the right product.

and tim what do you think about painting my mirrors and door trims i know you did it to your car, did you find it hard or was it a breeze? also im gonna tint the tail lights... im copying you pretty hardcore after reading your thread opened me up to mods again i kinda shut down for 6 months after i did my headunit and lowered it... btu so many options now

You'll have to find the lights that fit the front bar, can't go the other way round.. VY_utester was spot on with it.

I know what you mean by the paint, could look good.. get somebody on here to photoshop it and take a look at it before you do it.

Tinting tail lights is simple. remove light, rub back with lightly with sandpaper clean surface and apply nightshade until desired darkness. mine was 2 light coats.
re: painting. practice first.. make sure you know what your doing with paint before you start mucking around with parts of your car everyone can see. Advise - Take extreme care and as much time as you need to tape up everything properly. Nice light even coats of paint and clearcoat. rub back between each coat of primer and paint with light sandpaper. mess up the smallest part and that'll be all you look at.

Well as i said before, An executive is just holdens code name for povo pack. Chances are like me you won't have any extra wiring looms. so even connecting foggies can be difficult (assuming you want to do a proper job and connect it to the factory switch).

    1. Right, SSX kit - where should i start. It's fiberglass. Never again will i buy a fiberglass body kit. No matter what you do the paint looks funny compared to plastic and metal, it chips easily, and no matter what you do it never fits 100% correctly - my front bar sort of hangs off to one side and the rear never fit correctly. I MADE it fit by sinking about 50 screws into it. Also, fiberglass explodes when you hit things, I'm onto my 2nd rear bar.
Have a look on my ride thread, if your suspension is any lower than that you will never get in anywhere with this kit.
Don't get me wrong, it's a nice kit, but it's very high maintenance.
    2. The kit you're looking at needs either Exec or SS lights. HSV ones will fit, but as you can see in the picture of this kit that there's the cutout for the VY parker - HSV doesn't have this.
