Hey all,
I have searched through these forums many times and found heaps of help for many problems i have had but i cant seem to find a solution to this current problem.
I have a VYII v6 and its making a high pitch squeal when accelerating. It usually happens around 1600rpm or 3200rpm. I have replaced all the pulleys and the belt and it still makes the noise. I actually took the belt off today and revved the car and it still makes the noise so it definitely is not the belt, pulleys or bearings.
It happens when moving or in park. It doesn't happen when i first start the motor but after a couple of minutes when the motor has warmed up a bit the noise appears. It seems to come from the passenger side and it sounds a lot like a belt slipping or a high pitched vibration.
Does anyone have any idea what this could be?
Cheers,
Trav
could it be a vacuum hose leak?
Cheers for your reply sleepa!
Well it turns out it was an exhaust leak... I tightened up the exhaust bolts where it joins the manifold (they weren't exactly loose but they weren't tight either) and now the noise seems to have disappeared for the time being. Hopefully it has fixed the problem!
