Hey guys
I’m taken my VY over the pits, and it has no spare wheel or jack will they even check or is it all good?
It also has a bit of the VY steering shudder will that be a problem?
Any general additional heads up about taking VY's(or any cars) over the pits in WA would be really appreciated guys.
Thanks in advanced
u need a spare wheel and jack and wheel brace, also im thinking they will ask u to replace the steering rack

If it's low speed shudder then Holden claim that this is not detrimental to the vehicle so I doubt the car could be knocked back and if it is contact Holden and get it in writing that it is not dterimental.
You could try replacing the power steering fluid and adding a Nulon conditioner it helps or I was advised by Nulon to drain it and refill it with their fully synthetic fluid. I have had reasonable success changing the fluid at least once a year.
You don't need a spare, jack or tools to pass an inspection. They are not a requirement to make the vehicle roadworthy. If they are there but the spare is not legal, then they may knock you back because of it. Basically, if it is on the car, it has to work and be legal.
hhhmmm i was knocked back last year for not having a jack or wheel spanner

Thanks heaps guys
So you reckon i should borrow a similar spare from another car make sure it's legal, or??
Not_An_Abba_Fan, how sure are you? It makes sense that it doesn’t need to be there for the car to function , but they can be very fussy there
I used to work for a dealer and I had cars inspected all the time, even in my job now I still get cars inspected and I can tell you that a missing spare wheel will not fail a roadworthy. If you get knocked back then the guy is being a prick.
But if you want to be 100% sure, ring the place you intend to take it and tell them that your spare is bald and it is in getting another tyre fitted, and do you need it to be in the boot to pass the inspection.
sweet
thanks heaps guys heading off soon so see how we go and let you know
Good Luck with that!
Ive had mates in WA fail for having no fabric on the roof, another for no glovebox and another mate fail for the door not staying open by itself (shoddy latch or something).
I thought that everything that was on the car when it rolled off the production line must still be on the car and functioning correct to pass roadworthy.
Based on the above, i would have thought that a jack and tyre are fairly important for a roadworthy. If you do get a ""Prick" inspector, they will pick on absolutely everything to do with the car.
Hey guys
Thank god, all good
passed
so you don’t need a spare or jack, but as said above if you do have them you need the thread on the tire to be legal.
