Morning Guys,
Just wondering whether anyone might have a few idea's on the following:
Originally my father was having problems with the car wanting to stall after starting for a few seconds then it would come to life. This was resolved with the crank angle sensor being replaced and the IAC cleaned / replaced (can't recall which one).
I am pretty sure there was something else but can't recall it at the moment.
Anyway, since both of the above items were replaced the car has developed a fairly bad miss whilst stationary and under load, the rev's drop for a split second (doesn't stall) and then comes good again, at a set of traffic lights this will occur 5 - 10 times I guess and can only be described as very very noticeable.
It doesn't miss when the A/C is on or if not under load ie in park or neutral and driving along isn't a problem in the world just idle sitting at traffic lights whether it be cold or warm starts.
Any idea's would be great
Thanks
Cheers
Darren
Have you checked your spark plug leads? Try removing them one at a time and check their resistance. One may be open circuit or the resistance may be to high. also check for a cracked spark plug if its not the leads
Ahh yes forgot to mention leads and plugs have been changed, coil packs come back fine as well, the board (can't think of the name) under the coil pack has also been replaced.
could be a bad spark plug just cause there new doesnt mean there good i misses ford capri was doing the same thing turned out it was a buggered spark plug sitting at the lights it would idle like it had a HUGE cam in it lol
You must use the correct spark plug leads for the S/charged V6 otherwise the ends will begin to burn up very fast and engine will miss constantly under load. This was a problem with the VT s/c V6 and every car had to have improved leads fitted. The originals would begin to burn out after just 6000 kms. I had a new car and the leads were changed twice - the 2nd time with the improved product after which no problems occurred.
So make sure if you have changed the originals that you have installed the correct product. (I have never had a problem with my S/charged VY and it's running on all factory original electrical fittings).
