Rough trans

Hey guys
The transmission on my VY Berlina has been kinda rough for the last few months. I know the VY trans isn't the best in the world in the first place, however comparing to my uncles VY and step dads VY, mine is rough as guts.

Changing gears is VERY noticeable, and 2nd to 3rd make the car have a little lunge into gear. When watching the RPM it isn't a smooth transition into gear, it 'drops' into gears. Like I said, I know its not a perfect trans anyway but definently no where as smooth as other VYs I've driven.

Just want to know what it could be? I don't know when the last trans service was done, but would this possibly be a problem if it hasn't been done for a while? Car has done 80,000km. I have been thinking of just getting one to see if it fixes it, but do they do anything other than just changing the oil? ie. Tighten stuff make sure everything is working well?

Well you could by a filter kit and see if the oil is looking nasty.. may be a few blocked ports?

Check the trans fluid level with the car running and parked on a level surface. Sounds like low fluid to me
