    Default hsv headers

    hey guys,
i have recently acquired a set of hsv headers (vx i think) and was wondering if they will fit my vy ss ute without any cutting or welding? or will the cat pipes just need to be shortened or lengthened?

    cheers

I know that vt-vy v6 headers all clear the chassis/block mate.. but not sure if this applies to the v8 or not

Look at the 2 bolt fitting on the flange where the engine pipes would bolt up, if it is a flat flange rather than a cup style flange then your existing pipes will not bolt up. I'm pretty sure the HSV's use the flat style flange.

It must be the earlier HSV's that use the flat flange. They should fit then.

Wrong you will have to change the length of the pipe from the cat to the header. i fitted some hsv headers to my VY SS ute. the hsv headers are alot longer then the standard i was lucky to buy the cats and headers as a set so was a straight swap for me. the hsv cats also have a larger diameter pipe after the cat.

    standard cats vs hsv

    Pas side in.

stock headers vs hsv had already fitted passenger side.

    drivers side in.

The later HSV VY2 285 extractors which are quite short will fit in place of the std headers but the VT2-VY1 HSV extractors were longer and required different length cat pipes.
The 2 ebay ads show the 2 different types.
    Early long style.

    According to HSV the long headers (250,255 &260kw) are 41mm, 1 5/8" and the short (285) are 44mm, 1 3/4".
Not sure about the 300kw C4B enginebut I think from memory it uses the same headers as the earlier version 41mm.
