Question Lowering VY Storm. Need help.

Hey, when i bought my storm the dude i got it off gave me a set of lowered springs. Apparently they'll fit but they aren't made for that model. The guy down the shop said it doesnt tell him how low it'll be when he puts them on for that reason. My only concern is that its too low and scrapes all the time ($100 to put them on and probably another $100 to get swapped back). Which he said it could be, he also said it could be spot on.
On the springs it has the numbers : 2641
    0702NC
They are red. Also this is in regard to the rear springs.
Anyone have any advice? Or have somewhat of an idea of how low it'd be?

    Thanks,
    Mase

Hey mate, i think your springs are pedders ultralows. they should be fine, alot of people on the forums have them.

you may want to get shortened shocks though.

I would ring Pedders or take them in and check if it is their product. If not Pedders, ring a few suspension specialists who should be able to identify them for you.

Don't fit them to the car until you know definitely what they are and have a specialist advise you if that item is suitable for your application. It's probably not. Presumably the guy never fitted them to the VY because he told you they are not designed for that model. Just because the springs might fit does not make them suitable.

Fitting unsuitable suspension components to your vehicle will void your comprehensive insurance policy on the car - if you have one. (In any event you have to disclose the modification to insurers). Not to mention the safety issues.

If you cannot afford to change the springs by fitting the correct product don't do it.

if it's the rear springs just take the 30 seconds to do it yourself haha! buy a spring tensioner from supercheap, jack your car up, take off the rear tyre, tension the spring, place the new one in, tyre back on, put down. do it on the other side, take it around the block, if it's rubbing or scraping go back home and reverse what you did, will take you 20 mins max to do it. i swap mine over all the time.
    livin' the low life.

i would go and get some new springs mate, one reason being as he said they are for a different model!

    i would look at:
    kingsrpings or Lovells.
i run Lovells springs on my VY, and man they are a smooth ride with 20's, few mates run kingsprings with 20's and you need a kidney belt to ride in there car compared to mine.
want to see more then a typical commodore fitted with an exhuast, then check my thread out... link broken cuase i dont own a tuff car, i just made it up...
