    Default Changing to V8

    What do you have to change From having a V6 in my VY to a V8 what would i have to change? e.g. gearbox?

    Yeah it's been done to death mate, run a search and you'll find quite a few threads on the subject.
    In the end it's a lot easier to sell and buy one with it in already. Castlemaine rod shop do conversions so if you're after costing i'd be calling Rod first.

    I know you probably don't want to hear it, but it's really not worth the effort or expense when it would be cheaper and a lot easier to buy a V8 VY. You'll be stuffing around with it for ages getting it right and it still probably won't be good as a factory V8.

    the 5L conversion into early models was a piece of cake, but VY is just too messy.

    you could buy a vy with ls1 or maybe a vz srz2 with the ls2 for less than it would cost you to swap everything over, i think you'd have to swap sub frames to due to the engine mounting spots, gear box, brakes, i'd say tailshaft, diff, control modules, dash, wirring, etc, etc.
