Engine sounds loud and dry

Hey, the engine on my storm sounds pretty loud and dry. I checked the oil and it was fine, any other things i could check??
Haha sorry, its the only way i could describe the sound.

What fuel are you using? E10 ? Regular unleaded? If you have picked up some bad fuel the engine can run like a chaff cutter. Use up all but 15% of the tank capacity and fill with some fresh 95 or 98 premium fuel from a service station with a high turnover and see if the engine is still running off song. (Do not refill with E10 or regular unleaded).

Make sure there is no unusual noise from the alternator. Check to make sure the coolant temp is normal and the coolant is fully topped up when cold both in the radiator and reservoir tank.

(On the other hand if the engine on the car has been molested or otherwise fiddled with at some stage then who knows what the issue may be).

Generally i just use regular unleaded. I'll check those other things then put some 98 in it.
