    Default Berlina footwell lights

    Hey all,
I have a VY Berlina with the green footwell lights that go on when you open the door etc. What i want to do is etend the wiring through a switch so i can switch the lights on and keep them on - is this as easy as i think or would it not work? Also, would it be okay to run another light off the same wiring seeing as that wiring is already through the ignition etc?
    Cheers!

    Hey Sweefu

The circuit for the interior lights uses a switch on each door pillar as an earth, which means the lights have power fed to them at all times. I think you would need to provide a second earth , running from the earth wire through a switch to another earthing point, to operate the lights full time. Don't cut the existing earth wire - just peel back the insulation, solder a new wire to the existing one, then run it to your switch, then earth.

I'm sure you could run additional lights without a prob, but would need to remember to turn the things off every time you left the car, or your battery would cark it.

Remember too, that the existing interior lights have a timed cut-out to preserve the battery and you would be effectively by-passing that by installing a switchable earth.
