Tech 2/ Police Mode

i just went to my local holden dealer and asked if they unlock police mode

i got quoted $60, ive read on here some dealers do it for nothing or close to nothing

so if anyone around the northern suburbs has had it done cheap could you tell me which dealer they had it done by

lol sirens would be schweet^^ surely its something to do with the trip computer? googler it i found a site which shows u ways to access different modes on the trip computer ie engine temp in real time rev counter fuel remaining in litres ect ect..

i went to a local holden dealer and they said it would take an hour and cost $95 so i told them what a rip off it was and walk off

It might take 2 mins, but the tech2 interface they use isn't exactly free you know, it's a few $1000's of dollars a year to lease.

They are about $10,000 and you dont lease them you buy them outright

Cost me $40, however before getting it at this price, I had been down to another dealer who had told me that it will cost about half a grand because they need to change sensors, plugs, bloody all this stuff... I knew it was BS from what I had read on here, so I went to another dealer and they said instantly "oh yeah police mode, $40 mate"

All it adds is a digital speedo mode with no other info diplayed, eg radio station etc, just gear position (auto and cruise/power icons). If you have a 3 windows the two others will have NO info on them, and the mode where your instant read out dist. to go and overspeed display are, you overspeed will be empty and unable to be changed. As for temp and that, you still have to press the mode and set buttons on start up to get that, so no change there.

A few posts up said temp revs etc is not right. All it is the digital speedo and no overspeed. I did it on my new 3 window cluster and though it was crap. So my mate put it back to how it was and am happy now.

As for different modes, just a quick question and sorry to hijack thread. I had a mode (just the settings mode by pressing up or down on start up) I had a setting called ZZzz and when I left it for a second or two to come up with the help info, the help was ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZzzzzzz!!!!!! WTF was this about? There was a setting that went from 40 something to about 120. I went up and back but put it back to how it was, but haven't been able to replicate it. It was on the VY by the way.

when i had my vz it had it as standard and got used to seeing the digital speedo being displayed all the time, when i got the vy i was expecting it to be there and when it wasnt the guy at the ferntree gully dealership put it on there for nothin

hey dan, i went to my local holden dealer, they didnt even know me and i didnt buy anything, walked in, said can i have the tech 2 mod and he said yep, drove car round back, before i could turn around it was back, see ya later,

it was Patterson Chenney Holden in Vermont (really Nunawading, just off eastern freeway).

if they try and charge you anything they are ripping you off. just ask nicely and they should do it.

yeah thats exactly what i thought which is why i didnt get it, nanawading is a fair way away from me, i suppose if i'm ever down that way i'll have to pop in there and see if they'll do it for me too

yeah try call anouther one near you, just call up first and ask, then theyll be more inclined to do it for free i think, they probly like doing it, got the guy out of the office for 5 mins so he seemed happy haha.
