Picked up a VY v6 series 2 wagon about a month ago and have noticed that its got the steering shudder at low revs and its idle'n a bit rough. its only done 75000k and the RAA report came back all pretty good with each cylinder within 8% of each other, they said anything under 20% is ok. i also changed the oil with some 10w-30 the other week and cleaned the throttle body and IAC valve but still seems rough. the leads checked out ok, leads 1 3 5 were around 1400ohm to 2600ohm while leads 2 4 6 measured from 4200 to 5100ohms i believe. spark plugs looked fine too. would these be covered by the dealers 3 month 5000k warranty or am i gonna have to fix em myself? cheers
the steering shudder it common in vy's (was recalled cos of it from memory)
.. i often find it on mine when i reveres into my driveway ( drive into reverse the start turning as it starts moving backwards)
The steering shudder was oly fixed on new cars if th eowner complained. Holden put out a fix which is a new high pressure hose design. This new hose goes along the front od th eengine and attaches to the small square section of the K Frame just in front of the sump. You can buy the hose, O rings and bolts from Holden for about $150.00
You may be able to get it fixed under warrenty just ask the dealer and tell him you want the fix installed, if they don't agree they may agree to split the cost? I'd at least ask and if they refuse just contact consumer afairs.
Changing the fluid helps a bit. How dark is th efluid?
I'd also be checking the brake rotors measure them with a vernier caliper as when I got my VY as well as brake shudder some were undersize so I got 4 new rotor under warrenty.
