when the car is stationary and i give a rev up to say 2 or 3000 rpm and then release the throttle it drops the revs right down to 3 or 400 rpm and then struggles back up to its regular idle range 750 to 800 and sometimes it stalls completely. has anyone had the same issue? my thoughts are either fuel filter (cause its due) or pump or maybe an issue with the ecu?
Replace your PVC vacuum hosing on top of the valley- mine had deteriorated and fell apart.
is it only where its cold though? mine does it occasionaly but only when its cold
This winter, I had an annoying problem, only on dead cold starts.
The engine would not fire up on the first cranking. It would start on the second cranking, and would idle a bit rough. It would be rough on take off, and even sometime stall as I pressed the accelerator to move off.
Then as I would drive off, the engine lacked torque until it gained revs, as the Auto changed up gear (and revs dropped) would lack torque again untils revs gained.
After 60 seconds of driving, it would be fine. If the engine was warm it would always start/run fine.
Years ago I had a problem with "water in fuel" which was fixed by adding some "metholated spirits" into tank. Tried this trick this time, but it didn't fix my cold start/idle problem.
Had the car serviced, and they found nothing wrong.
Recently added fuel in my tank (I don't often buy petrol, as my car runs on LPG) and decided to buy a premium fuel, not E10 as I have in past. Next day, car ran great. Looks like I will avoid E10 from now
