Hi all. Hoping I'm in the right place, this is my first post. I've taken the rear seat out of my VY, and can't figure out how to replace it. It seems logical that I slide the rear part in (after pulling seat belt clips through) then pull the plastic tags on the front of the seat so the plastic (why plastic?) clips will click into place on the floor. Unfortunately, no matter how much I try to push the seat back, the clips are always further forward than the holes. I don't want to force it, as I've found far too many plastic components in this car that like to snap.
The reason I removed seat was to see how hard it is to get trim off along door. My passenger seatbelt no longer retracts and I'm having it replaced tomorrow. Been quoted $250, is this a diy option, and if so, any idea of price to purchase.
Hope someone can help, need to get kids to school in the morning.
Yes, it requires a bit of force to get the seat to line up with the floorpan. The clips on mine are broken from taking it in and out a billion times, but it doesn't seem to affect it.
I just took the bottom of my back seat out yesterday. One of the plastic clips, one side had come off and it was a bit hard to get that side of the seat out. I had to push the seat back hard after I pulled the seat belt buckles through and it just went in, the plastic clip that had half missing clipped back on ok but that side of th eseat is a bit looser than the other side so I may get a new one. Can't help with the seat belt but that sounds a bit dear jsut keep away from Holden. I'd give it a go myself and see if I could get a good belt from a wreckers.
Don't know about seat belt, probably like Wortus said. With the seat, however, slide and push the rear of it back as far as you can, then push down with your knee hard on top of where the clips are at the front. I've done this heaps, and you just have to give it a really hard push back and literally bounce your knee hard over the front clips. After, of course you have brought the seat belt buckles up through their slots in the seat.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
Thanks all. The seat is back in, see what you meant about it taking a bit of pressure. Good thing the seat is mostly foam and has no real frame. Had the belt replaced, cost $253. My husband wouldn't do the wreckers for the belt in case it had been in an accident, but I still think it cost a lot for little. Apparently the belt itself was about $180, and is very slightly different. The tag mentions nothing about holden, so don't think it was specific to my car. Oh well, needed to be done.
