Default VESS 19" wheels on VY

hey guys just a quick question, and probably been covered many times before so sorry if so! but was wanting to put 19 inch ve ss wheels on my vy s pack ute.

I currently have 225 50 r 16 tyres on my car, and the VE tyres are 245 45 r 19. Will they fit legally? as ive been told by some mates they may get me into a bit of trouble with my insurance company!

Also i do realise that the ve wheels dont fit and will have to be machined to fit correctly.

Thanks for the time guys, if you havent noticed im not the brightest light when it comes to cars

245/45R19 Also wrong profile for your car. Speedo will be out. Need to get some '35' profile tyres eg. 245/35R19 etc

my mate has them on his 2003 VY S fine.
had to get the wheels machined to fit of course as they were genuine, but tyre wise they fitted right on.
his were 245's and he had no trouble.
oh, forgot to add, insurance wise they will cover if you search around.
i have 18's on my vs and it was a little extra to cover.

You can buy genuine VE SS 19 inch rims off the shelf that are machined to fit the VY stud pattern. Companies such as wheel King in Melbourne sell the genuine ones and freight Australia wide.

    Refer this link ....Wheels

As others have said you will need to fit 245/35/19 tyres. The 45 profile tyre is too big in diameter and will be illegal as your speedo will be inaccurate.

Replacing the stock wheels is a modification and will have to be disclosed to your insurance company. Otherwise you can void your policy. Check with them before you spend any money and emphasize that you will be fitting genuine Holden product. 19 x 8 inch size HSV rims were fitted to many VY HSV cars as standard equipment.

If you buy VE SSV 19"s, do you have to replace the tyres aswell as getting the alloys machined out to fit pre-ve models? Because arent the tyres a different size on a VE?

like many have said, insurance is something you will need to talk to your company about. I know heaps of people that do what they like to there cars, of which most voids there policy. Its a good Idea to run it by them, also get the modifiction listing on your policy. But you may find that what your charged extra to cover the rims just isnt worth it.
