Is there an easy upgrade available for the VYII Calais Foglights?
Foglights are of no use to me (Sunny Queensland) but some decent driving lights might be usefull.
I have no problem with wiring it up to come on only at high beam, but can I get something that will make it worthwhile without major mods?
Cheers

I'd say that you'd have to try and find some that are exactly the same size as the foglights. Shops like Supercheap etc, have a range of different sizes. Also you'd have to suss out how the foggies are mounted and try to get something that is the same/similar mount, maybe having to make up a bracket? If it was me, I'd try pulling one of the foggies out and "go shopping" to see what's around. Good luck, hopefully someone else has done this and will reply with more detail.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
couldnt you just get a HID kit for the fog lights and rewired it to the high beams under the dash? ive seen a few on ebay

There are some Narva ones I believe that are a direct swap. Can't remember the part numbers but Keep_Left who is a member on these forums is in the know. He doesn't seem to post much though.!
Yeh - it'd have to be doable - just hoping someone has done the legwork alreadyMost importantly, it'd be nice to know if the result is worthwhile.

I was thinking of doing it myself. Just never got around to it.
For driving lights to be really effective, they need to be raised above the height of the fog-lights, more towards the height of the head-lights. Foggies are designed to illuminate the road immediately in front of the car, below the fog, which is why they are mounted so low on the car. Just replacing them with some form of driving light will work but the lights won't be very effective because they are mounted too low to throw their beams well ahead of the car.
They'll work better than the poxy foggies currently fitted!![]()
HID the foglights would be the easiest
hid's would be good but the foglights are designed to spread the light differently than a driving light would, so you would need to find some lights that fit the hole and are designed like a spot light then put some 55w hid's in them which might work better if wired like normal spotlights.
I can tell you from experience that the lower you mount the driving lights the less efficient they are. The higher you can mount them - the better they will perform. I suggest a set of Phillips Crystal Vision, or similar, high beam globes into your headlights. I understand they work quite well.
