Hey Guys,
I have a 2003 VY Acclaim and recently there has been a bit of rain and my car sits outsie. Now I hadnt driven it for 3 or 4 days and when I went to sit in it the drivers footwell is soaked! Mostly behind the plastic ribbed floor thingy. I did the forum search but every link comes up page not found. Now I have dried some of it out, seems the biggest area of wet is beside the fuel popper lever. If I press down the carpet, the foam underneath is soaked?
Any ideas anyone?
Nothing in the car has changed and this hasnt happened before...
Cheers
the windscreen probably wasnt sealed all to well, all ya can do is either attack it with a blow drier or just let it air out
OK it had a new windscreen about 9 months ago, can it be resealed? Any way to confirm if this is the case?
yeah they can re-seal it, to find the spot where its leaking just run your fingers around the windscreen and you should feel the vinyl if its wet, if its been happening for ages you'll see the vinyl has started to flake.
Edit* if worst comes to worst leave it in the rain and see where its leaking immediately.
sorry to sound dumb but vinyl round the windscreen?
The hoodlining around the windscreen maybe. You can even pull it back a little with your fingers and feel around.
Ah i see, ill have a look at it, if i have no luck or if i do, ill report back![]()
So I had the windscreen resealed by the people who replaced it. Turns out that it wasnt that so I sat in the car while someone hosed it and its coming through the drivers door. I resealed all the plastic on the inside of the door but still not working. I am assuming then it must be the seal from the top of the door to the window?
I was about to say it would probably be the seals around the door and window cills.
ok so im thinking its the seal around the bottom of the window? not thinking door seal as when i sprayed the hose at the window corner by the rear vision mirror is when it leaks
It can't be that because it doesn't seal up anyway. Water is supposed to run into the door cavity then drains out the bottom. Check the drain holes in the bottom of the door aren't blocked. If they are it'll fill up and overflow into the cabin. Another symptom of blocked drainage holes is that the window fogs up.
Yea i thought the same also but thought there cant be any other reason. Drain holes are all free flowing. Maybe i should replace the plastic sheet inside the door that goes between the metal and the door card? A hole in that could cause leakage yes?
i had the same problem but with the rear right door. The problem ended up being the outside windows seal that runs along the bottom of the window. water was leaking through there into the door and coming out between the steel door itself and the plastic trim. i went ahead and replaced all 4 and haven't had any problems since. Cost me around $100 all up from motor traders but you can get them direct from holden for around the same price. Hope this helps
Awesome will give that a try and post back thanks if it works. Hope its just the adivce. I need![]()
